safari, setting into the Loisaba star beds will take your breath away. Set in the picturesque pristine wilderness of Laikipia, these authentic star beds are unique to Loisaba.
Located about 70 kilometers north of mount Kenya – Kenya’s highest peak, the
loisaba promises you exclusive status, limitless luxury and authentic star
beds.
The ranch offers stunning views of tropical pristine wilderness topped with an
array of wilderness activities to unwind in sheer luxury.
Inspired by its secluded ambience and the promise a sky glittered with speckles
of diamond like stars with a royal black robed backdrop; a breath taking sight,
the star beds remain an attraction worth investing in while on a Kenya Safari.
The two sets of Star Beds are unique to Loisaba. The first and original set are
located among a kopje of rocks in one of the eastern valleys overlooking the
"Kiboko" waterhole. The second and newer set is located about 8
kilometres further south on the banks of the Ewaso N'giro River. These are
cantilevered over the flowing river below and are reached by footbridge from
the opposite bank.
These are named "Koija" Star Beds and are part of an exciting new joint
venture project that Loisaba has undertaken in partnership with the Laikipiak Masai
people from the Koija community.
Each Star Bed dramatically designed,
handcrafted wooden raised platform, and partially covered with a thatched roof.
Homemade "Mukokoteni" (uniquely designed bed on wheels), can either
be wheeled onto the open deck area for a night under the stars, or left under
the shelter of the roof.
All the beds have complete "four-poster" insect netting. The Star
Beds are normally reached by one of many options; on foot, horse, camel or
vehicle and with two sets now in place create a unique opportunity to travel
between them both and the lodge as part of a Star Bed Expedition.
Guests are guided and hosted by a
team of traditional Samburu and Laikipiak Masai warriors. Food is prepared in
traditional camp kitchen, Barbeque style.
Both the Kiboko and Koija Star Beds comprise of 2 double sleeping platforms and
one twin platform. Each double platform is designed for 1 or 2 people. The
family platform accommodates 4 people (sharing bathroom facilities). Each
platform is en-suite and has a large camp-style shower. The platforms are sited

African Wildlife - The Big Five _
The phrase Big Five was coined by big game hunters and refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot. The term is still used by most safari wildlife guides. The collection consist of the Lion, the African Elephant, the African Buffalo, the Leopard and the Rhinoceros, either the Black or the white rhino. The members of the Big Five were chosen for the difficulty in hunting them and not their size, which is why the Leopard is on the list and not the enormous Hippopotamus. Big game hunting has since been banned in most African Countries you are only allowed to view them while on your African Safari.
The Big Five are among the most dangerous mammals.
The Lion (Panthera leo) is a large carnivorous feline of Africa and north west India. Having a short tawny coat, a tufted tail and, in the male, a heavy mane around the neck and shoulders.
The African Elephant is a large Herbivore having thick almost hairtless skin, a long flexible prehensile trunk, upper incisors forming long curved tusks of ivory, and large fan shaped ears. There are two distinct species of the African Elephant: African forest Elephant (loxodonta cyclotis) and the African Bush Elephant (loxodonta africana).
The Rhinoceros is a large thick skinned herbivore having one or two upright horns on the snout. In Africa, there are two distinct species of rhinoceros; the Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) and the White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum). Both of these species have two upright horns on the snout.
The African Buffalo or cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is a large horned bovid . It is the most dangerous of the Big Five, reportedly causing the most hunter deaths.
The Leopard (Panthera pardus) is a large carnivorous feline either tawny fur with dark rosette-like markings or black fur. 
Leopards are the most difficult to see while on your African Wildlife Safari due to their elusive behavior and nocturnal feeding habits.
The rosettes are for Leopards found in Eastern Africa and square for those in Southern Africa.

The jewel in the Ngorongoro crown is a deep volcanic crater- the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world - 19.2 km in diameter and 610 m deep and 304 sq km in area. The rich pasture and permanent water of the crater floor supports a huge resident population of wildlife of up to 25,000 - predominantly grazing animals. These include wildebeest, Zebra, Gazelle, Buffalo, Kongoni and warthog. the swamps and forest provide additional resources for Hippo, Elephant, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, baboons and Monkeys. The steep inner slopes provide a habitat for the more shy species like the dikdik and the rare mountain reedbuck.
Predatory animals like the Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and serval cats live off the abundant wildlife while the large packs of hyena roam the crater floor making their own kills and scavenging from others. The crater is a dynamic and constantly changing ecosystem providing a vital source of nourishment to the wildlife inhabiting it.

Día 01: Nairobi

Día 02: Nairobi – Meru
Desayuno y salida de la ciudad de Nairobi hacia el parque nacional de Meru. De camino pasaremos a través de exuberantes colinas, hogar de los kikuyus. Esta área es conocida por sus plantaciones de café arábica. Llegada en el parque nacional de Meru en tiempo de Almorzar.
Los míticos Joy y George Adamson, establecieron aquí su famosa granja para la cría de cachorros de león, que dio lugar a la archiconocida novela Nacida Libre ( Born Free), escrita por la propia Joy, en la que describía la vida de la popular leona Elsa. Día 03: Meru
Día completo en Meru con safari fotográfico por la mañana y por la tarde. En la region Meru, Sus 820 km cuadrados de superficie están cubiertos, principalmente, por terrenos pantanosos, altos pastos y grandes extensiones de bosques. Esta abundancia de vegetación se debe al alto índice de precipitaciones que soporta el parque, y a los quince ríos permanentes que surcan sus tierras, permitiendo una excelente irrigación sobre todo en la parte occidental de la reserva Su sector meridional muestra suelos volcánicos, junto a llanuras semiáridas en las que se levantan pequeña cabeza en africana, que surgen como islotes rocosos en mitad de la llanura. Así pues, el parque de Meru ofrece una gran variedad de ecosistemas, qué permite la presencia de diversas especies animales agrupadas conjuntamente en un mismo entorno. Día 04: Meru – Lago Elementaita
Desayuno y salida por carretera hacia las pendientes del Monte Kenya. Continuación hacia el Lago Elementaita por el escarpado Gran Valle del Rift, vía Thompson Falls. Llegada al Lago Elementaita en tiempo de almorzar. Noche y cena el Sleeping Warrior Camp. (Pension Completa).
Día 05: Lago Elementaita
Desayuno y salida para realizar nuestro safari fotografico en el cercano Lago Nakuru. Nos acercamos a una zona protegida para especies en peligro de extinción como el rinoceronte blancos y negros. Aquí también podremos avistar la jirafa Rothschild entre otras especies más comunes como el leopardo y el león, o los estilizados flamencos coloreando de rosa las aguas del lago. Día 06: Lago Elementaita – Lago Victoria
Desayuno y salida desde el Lago Elementaita hacia la dieccion de Lago Victoria. De camino, pasaremos el pueblo de Kericho. Este pueblo es conocido por sus grandes plantaciones de Te. Almuerzo en camino. Llegada en La zona Lago Victoria por la tarde. Noche y cena en Kisindi Lodge & Spa. (Media Pension).
Día 07: Lago Victoria – Parque Nacional de Ruma
Desayuno y salida del lodge para realizar un safari en el cerca parque nacional de Ruma. Hay una serie de mamíferos que se reproducen en el parque, pero la especie más notable es el antílope caballo (una especie rara en Kenia). Los adultos pueden pesar hasta 270 kg y vivir unos 15 años. También se incluyen el oribí, el antílope bohor y la jirafa Rothschild. El parque también es rico en avestruces, chimpancés e impalas. También se están realizando planes para reintroducir el rinoceronte blanco que había desaparecido de la región. Por la tarde, excurcion en las ruinas de Timlich Ohinga. Día 08: Lago Victoria – Masai Mara
Nos dirigimos hacia la tierra de los míticos guerreros maasai. Safari fotográfico recorriendo las inmensas llanuras de Masai Mara donde encontraremos a grandes manadas de ñus, cebras, antílopes y gacelas, observadas de cerca por los grandes depredadores. Días 09 & 10: Masai Mara
Días completos en Mara, durante el cual tendrán la oportunidad de explorar en
profundidad esta gran reserva. Durante el safari fotográfico tendremos la oportunidad de observar a elefantes, jirafas, leones, leopardos, guepardos, hienas, chacales, caracales, y cientos de impalas, topis y gacelas Thompson. Mara es el escenario anual de la migración de millones de ñus que se dirigen hacia las llanuras del Serengeti en busca de agua y pastos. Alojamiento y cena en Olumara Tented Camp. (Pensión completa).
Día 11: Masai Mara – Nairobi
Desayuno en el camp y luego regreso a Nairobi por carretera. Almuerzo en Nairobi y traslado al aeropuerto JKIA por la tarde.
